Eugeniya Dior

Artist

Eugeniya Dior is a Ukrainian-born artist based in Austin, Texas, who specializes in oil painting. Born in 1983 in Druzhkivka, Donetsk region, Ukraine, Dior's artistic journey began in early childhood, where her natural inclination toward visual expression was evident from her earliest memories. Dior's formal artistic education began at an art school during her childhood years, followed by studies at the Kiev National University of Technology and Design, where she focused on Fashion Design. This background in fashion influences her work's distinctive style, which often
features carefully considered clothing elements and period details. Her artistic style can be characterized as a unique blend of surrealism and romanticism, creating dreamlike narratives that transcend specific time periods. Her work has gained recognition in the fine art world, with a notable exhibition at the Husar Fine Art Gallery in Beverly Hills in 2018. Many of her pieces now reside in private collections. Currently working from her studio in Austin, Dior maintains an active practice, often working on multiple pieces simultaneously. She continues to develop her craft through self-directed study, embracing the perspective that artistic growth is a continuous journey. Her creative process is deeply intuitive, beginning with emotional observations that she translates into visual elements through a complex system of personal symbolism and dream imagery. Drawing inspiration from literature, film, and her own dreams, Dior creates paintings that invite viewers into a world where reality and fantasy coexist. As she continues to evolve as an artist, she remains committed to her primary goal: maintaining the inspiration and ability to create works that bridge the gap between the conscious and subconscious realms.

Eugeniya Dior's work exists in the liminal space between reality and dreams, where the tangible world bleeds into the surreal landscape of the subconscious. As an oil painter, she explores the intersection of these realms, transforming the vivid dreams that once frightened her as a child into visual narratives that challenge temporal boundaries. Her paintings draw inspiration from the otherworldly qualities of "Alice in Wonderland," the gothic aesthetics of Tim Burton, and the enigmatic atmosphere of David Lynch's "Twin Peaks." Through deliberate use of retro elements in clothing, details, and color palettes, Diordiychuk creates works that exist outside of specific time periods or fashion trends. This temporal ambiguity invites viewers to lose themselves in a moment that could be past, present, or future. Each piece begins with an emotion - either personally experienced or observed - which she translates into a visual language of color, temperature, and symbolic elements drawn from her dreams. Diordiychuk does not seek to convey specific messages through her work. Instead, she creates because it is as essential to her as breathing. Her paintings serve as a form of communication with the world, transforming personal experiences, pain, and joy into visual expressions that speak when words cannot.
